Who is pipping and waiting right now??

One of my EE's pipped today. A tiny bump crack on the side. I wanted to stay home and watch, but I am sure they can do with out my constant nervousness.

I've got hatching, I've got hatching!!!!

My husband called tonight to check on things and I said I hadn't heard any peeping in the hatcher yet, and then suddenly, "PEEP"!!

I stuck a flashlight in the window and looked through the holes in the side (it's this weird ancient metal round incubator) and there was a duckling struggling to get out!!

WOOT! And at least one other egg or maybe 2 have pips!

Three chicks hatched and four pipped of the nine Orps.

Got some black copper marans piping. Called home from work and asked my father to go to my house and check for chicks. None Yet. Any of you ever hatched you eggs sitting small end down in a pulp tray with holes cut in the bottom? Friend of mine swears it helps his hatch rate. Just wondering?

7 chicks total hatched, 6 blues, 1 splash Orp and one of the blues was a bit of a surprise, LOL. Tell ya later about that. Cracked me up yesterday!

So far 7 purebred rouens, looks like another half out of the egg and another egg pipped!

Most successful hatch to date for me!

Are Blue Orps especially difficult to hatch. Granted, my eggs were mailed to me in the heat, but not one hatched!
