Who is pipping and waiting right now??

I have 2 eggs going to the hatcher in the morning, they are from my young Buff Orp hen and could be pure or a mix, there is a Houdan, Silver Phoenix and Lakenvelder Rooster in the pen too.

Problem though with the screamer now.

The screamer isn't paying any attention to the new baby. She want in with the bigger chicks. I wonder if she is thinking that the bigger chicks might be her mamma and remembering I sure were 45 minutes of conforting moments for her. I will give her a bit and see if she takes to the new chick and if she doesn't maybe I will block her view of the bigger chicks.

What do you think??

Now new chick is looking at me like "What did you put me in here for?"

Anyway it has been a good day in the chicken world here.

I would let them all see each other and eventually put them all together. I just did that with ones that hatched oct 31 with ones that hatched Nov 7th. I just keep an eye on them for a little bit to make sure the older ones don't pick on the newer ones. I think I waited until the new ones were 3 days old and strong enough.
Congrats on the new ones.

Sara, I had a young chicken that screamed like a woman if I picked her up. I named her Screamin' Banshee. You're welcome to borrow the name.

That is very funny because I was thinking sreamer in the name somehow.

The screamer is now paying attension to her new roommate but now they both want in the other brooder with the bigger chicks.

I have five more in the bator, 2 dated Oct 25th, 1 Oct 27th and 2 Oct 29th. I have a pip on one of the 25th and I hear peeping so it won't be long. I know the mom's are black jersey giants but not sure if the dad is white leghorn or splash cochin because I moved the girls. I am hoping on Splash being the dad.

Good luck everybody on your hatches.

Geesh! All this talk about pipping and peeping makes me want to divorce my husband so I can hatch some chicks too!! Haven't had the pleasure in a couple of years! But then, come to think of it, I brought home a couple of dark brahma chicks from where I worked last fall and having them in the house all winter was a pain in the neck (and elsewhere). Nevermind. I'll wait til spring to divorce him.
