My last egg in the bator finally pipped today. I wan't sure if it would hatch because the egg was a little distorted but I so wanted more lf cochins that I tried it anyway. Hopefully it will hatch by tonight and I will be done till spring. Not that I want to but like you it will make too many for me to worry about feeding.
You are in my prayers.

What actually is going on with the foot? Can you get better pics? Whatever it is I think you need to get to it pretty quick.


Well #5 is with her housemates and she is a bigger screamer than the first one. I don't know what she wants, I've made them as comfortable as possible. It's a good thing I am used to the noise or it would be driving me crazy.

The last one finally hatched and is doing well. I feel let down now that I won't be hatching anymore until spring. Guess I will just enjoy the new babies for awhile and get back to sewing for the winter.

I was curious about Sadie and looked up some of your web links. Sorry about the dog attack. I lost all 5 of my hens to a dog attack. I just went numb for a while. Hope Sadie makes it okay.

Are you trying to hatch out some of your blue roo's potential offspring? He is awsome!

My bator is also going with some unintended eggs which may or may not be fertile but since I spent the money for the bator... I might as well use it.

Miss Sadie is going to be fine. Her remaining wing is banded/no infection/ good color in her upper wing/ has a great appetite and its just a waiting game now. Instead of pausing in front of the brooder room door wondering if she was still alive I now pause and wonder if the wing is still attached. This is a much easier thing to do.

I'm not hatching any of the blue roos offspring yet. My bator got turned back on because of a first time mama {she layed 2 eggs and then went broody} and sneaky sultan hen that layed in her nest. I think the story starts on page 199.

Anyway the roo is beautiful and I have big plans for him and thanks for asking bout him. I am taking orders already for eggs from his trio.

My bator was quiet last night, no action and chick #5 that is in the brooder and the biggest screamer is sleeping right now so I am keeping the house quiet for her. lol
