Getting there!

I don't have problems with my own eggs, but the shipping wreaks havoc on shipped eggs, so I'm tickled pink that a second batch was so good. The PO destroyed most of the eggs that were sent to me this year.

Yeah, I figured that out with my quail eggs. I candled my 17 cortunix eggs last night, and have 6 left. The rest were all scrambled...

And just remember, sometimes there's a reason they don't make it out of the shell.... and I think it's safe to say that they need that struggle to get everything working right. If things aren't right, it's Mother Nature's way of culling the weak. Not to be depressing or anything, but it happens.

I have helped two chick's hatch. In both cases it was clear they were in trouble. Both chick's had spraddle leg and one had breathing trouble's. The chick's lived about two week's each and it broke my heart when they died. I still can't watch the video of the chick's {maybe oneday} so it's real hard to say if I would help another one out. If they are having trouble getting out there is a reason. It sure is hard to watch them struggle though. Tori is so right about this.

Good luck everybody. PEACE

I know she is right...but tonight I broke down and helped that little chick out. I touched it (what was showing out of the shell) and it was so dry and HARD....crusty. So I wrapped it in a warm damp cloth and held it there for a little bit...it peeped and peeped and started really kicking, so I pucked some of the shell off around it and then when I knew it wasnt crusty anylonger I placed it back in the bator. in a few min it kicked the rest of the shell off....kicked it across the bator.....now it's in there drying out.....I know it might not make it...but so far we have 3 tat seem really health, and by tomorrow we will hopefully have 4.
I will try to get pics in a bit.

go chickie you got the world rooting for you. Good luck PEACE

Sometimes if you can just give them that little boost... that's all it takes. I think that the tendency is to get them out completely, but if you can just break it free enough that it can finish the job, then they'll probably be just fine.

Sounds like you did good.

Look at what beautiful chick's I got from my last hatch of the year. Have you seen anything more beautiful?
