I ended up with two cubalaya chicks, one I caved and helped out. *hides* It had pipped the shell and not progressed in two days. I had to open the bator anyways to set another batch of eggs to hatch (staggered hatch). This time some assorted marans and cochin from Mergemet. *needs a second 'bator*
Anywho... this is day 20 for the marans & cochin, and one of the black coppers had pipped! (I think it was black copper, she marked the egg CB).
Hopefully this one turns out better than the cubalaya hatch. I left the remaining cubalaya eggs in the 'bator with the marans and cochin, but I don't have expectations.
My first cubalaya chick, the one that hatched all on it's own, has abandonment issues...
I guess because it stayed in the incubator by itself for so long.
It cries and cries, between eating, drinking, and sleeping. If I go stand by the brooder or put my hand in there, it will be quiet and content. Strange little fellow... (is hoping it's a boy
).
