I have three that have pipped (day 23 - it's about time!)

I think one of them is upside down though.
They are in an egg carton and the hole he pipped is clear at the bottom by the small end of the egg.

He has been working hard and is very vocal now

Will he be able to get out that way? Last time I hatched I didin't use cartons so I'm trying to figure out how he is going to get the majority of the shell off rather than just the top half.

I've only hatched one chick out of the carton, so I'm no expert, but man... that was the way to go! They throw open their top-hatch then just prop themselves up in their shell gathering strength... very clean, and keeps them from playing roller-derby with the rest of the eggs that are trying to pip.

I have some of my button quail's eggs and some of miss jaynie's (jimnjay) silkies on day 9, some of my own silkies on day 14 and a few more of mine on day 3. I have more silkie eggs coming from Bama Chicken this week too. So I have staggering hatches for a while and I start a new job tomorrow. Oh I almost forgot, miss jaynie is sending me some blue andalusion eggs too. Man, I will have a lot going on for the next few weeks.

day 20 & waiting for eight little silkie eggs to hatch, first ones ever. no sounds or rockin' yet...the RIR's are due to start hatching Sun/Mon next week.

Have some hatching hopefully tomorrow and Wed. Haven't had much luck. My other incuabator went on the fritz and I lost 30 eggs.

I feel like a murderer. Hopefully I will have a few hatch this time to I don't just give up altogether.
