Mrs. AK-Bird-Brain :

3 Blue silkies hatched, now the coturnix are pipping...

Could your silkies have a talk with my silkie that has made noooo visable progress in 7 hours. Although I don't see the beak right by the pip anymore so I am guessing it is working on the zip from the inside.

That sounds goofy - they can only work on the zip from the inside - otherwise they would be hatched...

Mine were due on Monday, and though they were rocking, I didn't see pips until Monday morning, and the last one hatched yesterday afternoon... more than 36 hours after pipping. So give it time, leave the incubator closed and keep the humidity up. And if that doesn't help, peep at it!!!

Haven't touched that lid - and I peep and whistle to it. I have several rocking that are due Saturday and then about 5 more that are due with this one tomorrow.

Somebody come sit on my hands for me! This egg was pipped when I got up at 6:30 am and has not changed in the least. I know not to help out - but I want it to be fine. I want a silkie and I want it now! He is a pretty quiet peeper to begin with - so I keep thinking he is in trouble - even though he is probably fine.

Ok I am going to go do some mindless Suduko and pretend he never pipped yet...
It is only day 20 after all.

*plants my big butt on your hands...*

I almost screwed up and tried to help my last one... she's doing ok, but it was touch and go there for a while... don't touch them!!!!!

One almost out now - but the other guy that was pipped yesterday has gone quiet

My silkie didn't make it. My son said it was moving just a couple of hours ago, so I removed the shell. It had absorbed its yolk sac and it's eyes were still "sparkly" so I think it probably just passed recently.
