They all died and the regular chicken eggs in there have not piped. I dont know why somethen about going from big bator to hatchery bator is messing them up. Next round all going in little bators for the whole time. Thanks for your help I guess they just were not meant to be .

I am so sorry for your loss, at least you tried, unfortunately they probably would have died anyway, but you gave them a chance to make it.

I usually do not move mine, but this round I bought another incubator and tried it that way. Unfortunately, my 2nd incubator is filling up, since I cannot eat my eggs, due to worming my chickens, I figured I may as well hatch them. I mean really, who in their right mind would throw away good eggs.

By the way Starry, do not feel bad, I had 2 Red Golden Pheasants drowned today. I had the water set up (it is a ver small waterer) and filled it with marbles, 1 drown anyway, added some rocks, another still drown, so I added more rocks.

I must say they are tiny and adorable regardless.

Well, it is 10:30pm and I was getting ready for bed and thought I will check on the Guineas one more time. Not 1 out of the 4 that had pipped Saturday were hatched. The only one that hatched was the one with no pip on Saturday. So I did an emergency hatch on them and good thing because they had no veining and probably should have been out hours ago. Actually they should have hatched before the one with no pip. So far, all 4 seem to be doing well, will update in the morning.

I will also post pic's of my pheasants.

Well, I cannot post pics right yet, have to get some things done, but I thought I would let you know that all 4 Guineas that I helped are doing great. Got up this morning and they were all out of the shell and moving around with no problem.

So all 5 guineas hatched and 10 out of 14 pheasants. The little duck did not make it, said to say.

So I went from have 1 adult Guinea to having 3 adults. My friends Guinea moved down here, again. This is his 2nd guinea that made residence at my house.

I have 4 babies that I left with mom, 11 that I took and put in with the others, 8 I hatched from the 1st batch and 5 from the last batch. So I now have 28 baby keats.

And I thought my Guinea was all alone and needed company. She will have plenty now.

You guinea maker you. Sorry about the pheasants. Seems some birds just have to find a way to die. Glad you caught the stuck guineas in time.

I spent the last few days scavenging my old uglybator and using the parts in a broken wine cooler I got to make a new hatcher
smile.png
Neat little red, eight bottle cooler with a glass door. I tiled the interior over flex watt heat tape and used a puck, under cabinet light and voila, hatcher. Now I just need to seal the grout and it'll be ready to rock. I loved the mini-fridge Darthbator so much I decided the next hatcher had to be some form of small refridgerator and wine coolers have glass doors - yay.

I'm looking forward to a dedicated hatcher that isn't foam.

Oh and I put the guinea eggs under the broody hen so I don't have to mess with them. I want them to think they're chickens. So very nice timing on the broody's part.

Now I have some turkey eggs, a chicken egg(leftover from the 1st broody hatch) and set of marans eggs and a set of barred rock mix eggs to go...

Of course it is the marans eggs that will be the nail biters.

Sigh, broody hen abandoned hatching guineas... so now they're in Darthbator while I make sure the Corvette Hatcher is ready for the keats... days early...

Did you leave any of her own eggs under her?

My next round (11 Blue Andalusian, 1 Appenzeller and 2 or 3 Maran, I may be down to 1) is due on the 14th and 1 peafowl egg due on the 15th. They have been moved to the new incubator and we are starting the count down. I will candle them for the last time this evening, then it is

for the last 5 days.

Your nail biters (Marans) are due when? I hope you have better luck than me. If so, maybe next year I can purchase some fresh eggs from you.

6 days to go

I think Chickiemama is on vacation. I bet she is going nuts thinking about her peafowl eggs in the bator and her chick eggs. I do not think I could trust someone with a task like that.

I can hear her calling home and the first thing out of her mouth is, "Did you remember to turn my eggs."

5 days to go

Well, I had a BIG BIG accident. I dropped a bowl of water and I did not realize it got into my incubator. I went to turn the eggs and when I looked in, the temp was 93.

I felt the eggs and they were very cool. So I checked them all and placed them in the new incubator.

Well, I did not see movement in my peafowl egg,

, but it is staying until its due date on the 15th. Little chick has came so far, I just do not believe this. I am just hoping it was to big to move much, which is possible. I will check it again tonight and see what is going on, if I cannot tell, I just wait.

Now all the other eggs looked good and my BA, BCM and 1 SZ are due the 14th. I am excited, everything (air sac also) looked great and lots of movement. I still think I have 1 BA with twins, I keep seeing what looks like 2 separate movements.

Along with all of this, I think my broken peafowl egg is fertile. I will know for sure in another week. All the cracks make it hard to see the veining, but I think it has the fertile dot.

If this one hatches, it will not have to much problem getting out, I will jsut remove the tape.

I have to get a picture. Charging camera battery now.

By the way, today I traded two 2yo laying hens for a pair of Silkies, black roo and brown hen with a black face. I always thought they were smaller, but they are actually the size of a bantie. Really cute chickens though, fluffy not feathery.
