Sending good vibes your way that some of them make it. My last hatch was a disaster but this one seems better.

I had six desinger eggs hatch out of 14 eggs so far this morning.

I will try to post some pictures when they dry off and I have had my coffee.
Good luck on your hatches everyone.

This time just add a bowl of water with a couple sponges in it ( I will measure the bowl I have if you want. Stick the bowl in the incubator and keep the temp between 99.5 and 100.5. My 2nd chick is going to hatch on the 18th, I am excited. My friend hatched 1 egg so far also and his chick died for some reason. I am putting it with bacteria in the incubator or low humidity which could cause suffocation for a chick.

I will let you know if they lay another tonight, I would like to ship 2, if not I will do the 1 and 1. This will be your last chance from me this year, my girls should quit laying soon.

Let me know.

If I am right, designer chicks are cross breeds. I guess we will find out for sure when nhnanna comes back on.

Don't give up on the Marans yet. I thought I was not going to have any and 1 did hatch.

Okay, my fuzzy little silkie chicks are all happily running around in the brooder...and then the fuzziest, softest yellow one begins his attack! For some reason, he won't stop pecking all of the other chicks in the eyes! He doesn't go for any other part of their body - just their eyes! Should I worry about this? I want to separate him before he manages to hurt one of them, but am not sure if that will be the best idea either...

Any thoughts?

Take a big men's sock and stuff him in it for a bit every time he goes nuts. Dunno why it works but it often only takes twice. Guess it's the same thing as carrying a tough bird around until it calms down.

That's what some dog breeders call thier mixed breed litters so I thought I would call my mixed chicks that too.
Mine are lf Cochin x EE and Cochin/sexlinks x Cochins.

The pictures I tried to take didn't come out very good but here are a couple. I will get more later when they are done hatching.
I also have Wellies and Light Brahmas hatching in 2-3 days.

I am going to try that right now. I thought about separating him into his own brooder, but I don't have another light. On top of that, it won't teach him to stop it. As soon as I put him back in the brooder, he viciously attacks again. It's amazing how mean he is about it, pinning them right into a corner or into the waterer.

LOL I KNEW it meant mutt I wanted to know what kind.

And I DO know what a Harlequine Dane is - I've wanted one for a long time and am on a wait list from JPY aka Chromadane. Who breeds the most dual and triple titled Danes in the country, most of them Harls.

But I once convinced an idiot (see John Q Public) that a harl dane was part cow... hence Cow Danes.
