Hello from CA,

I am new to raising chickens and have been referring to this site nearly every day for the last 6 months. Can't tell you how much this site has helped me.

A little about me...

I started out 5 months ago with 11 babies, one of which I lost in the first week. Originally, my only purpose for getting chickens was for the eggs. Truth is, I never expected to fall head over heels in love with them. I am now known at work as the chicken lady and have already been contacted to rescue a baby Wyandotte and have added another 12 babies to the crew. I live on an acre and my chickens roam the pasture during the day and cuddle up in the coop at night.

Thank you all for your posts, I would've been lost without them!

The crew:
4 Wyandottes
3 RIRs
3 White Leghorns
1 Brn Leghorn
1 Ameracauna (turned out to be a Roo)
2 Black Sex-Links
2 Gold Sex-Links
2 Buff Orphs
2 Delawares
3 Barred Rocks

Welcome to BYC from Arkansas. Nice selection of chicks. I have Welsummers and Black Copper Marans myself. Looking to get some Ameracuanas also and maybe some blue copper marans.

Hi and :welcome

You're very right.. you do get pretty attached to the chickens over time. I've seen opinions sway within my family after a couple of years of keeping the birds.

You have some nice breeds!
I hope you (continue to) find all the info you need here, and enjoy the site. :D
