Who lays purple eggs

I have an Americana in the new coop. I inherited some hens and don't really know what all I have. But I know there were not Americanas. In the old coop, I have been getting some colored eggs and just recently been getting purple eggs? And theories out there on who is laying colored eggs and more specifically the purple?

Yes photos will be helpful. Some birds lay eggs that appear to be purple, but it’s really just a heavy pink bloom over normally a brown or dark brown egg.
You can tell by scraping the bloom off with your fingernail and seeing the brown egg underneath.

Sometimes eggs can have a lot of bloom on them which can make them look purple. Once you wash them off the look is gone though

Brown, or dark brown eggs with heavy bloom creates plum eggs/purple eggs.

Sometimes eggs can have a lot of bloom on them which can make them look purple. Once you wash them off the look is gone though

Most of my eggs with heavy bloom remain plum after washing.

The eggs on top second in from the left is what they look like. What is a bloom?

The bloom is a cover of protein over the egg. It protects the egg. It helps prevent bacteria from entering the pores (this is very important when hatching eggs that you don't remove to move of the bloom). Sometimes there is only a light coating and sometimes it is very heavy.
