Who likes guineas?

I was wondering what all I can learn about guineas. How many breeds are there and if raised with chickens will they free range together and roost together? I have two myself but mostly do chickens and ducks(have quail also).

I can not answer that question cos I have never actually seen a Guinea up close and personal, just pictures. However, the folks on the Guinea Fowl Forum will surely be able to help.

I don't know much about guineas except they are supposed to be tops for eating ticks, and are a great alarm system except everything & anything can alarm them. Pretty noisy.

Welcome to BYC....I happen to be a Guinea expert...and chickadee genius...


Yep..they can be together...no one will ever completely understand Guineas..they are one breed with different varieties...


My Guineas always roosted with the chickens, taking the best spots for themselves. You need at least a dozen Guineas for them to do their Guinea voodoo on each other.

When they change leaders it is like a third world coup....the old leader will be killed.....they will drive off predators...but in exchange they will do stupid me pack of wolves type crazy crap....

Enjoy the nut cases....btw if they seem to be chasing each other around for hours....they are....the chasee will be assaulted when it ends..
