I pulled mine WAY to soon. . . . .

The leaves had died back, but the stalk was still green. the top had a big round ball of seeds(?) But when I pulled it, it looked like there was only one clove grown. Sad day. this was my only garlic, it popped up on its own.

You need to cut the garlic scape off right when it starts to curl. This will put more energy into the bulb. If the scape is left on and allowed to open your bulbs will suffer.

your garlic is so organized!! i just shoved garlic cloves randomly through the beds to ward of aphids and other pests. when i finish a season in a bed i pull everything out that needs removed and re plant garlic lol

It should be "loves", a 's denotes that the word is possessive, or that there's more than one of it. I've been seeing this a ton lately and it drives me bonkers.


On the garlic note, HOLY CRAP that's a lot of garlic! It looks so healthy too! I managed to grow a bunch of lovely onions, but the garlic was pretty feeble. I wonder if the soil was too clay-like for it. Still managed to get enough of it to cook with my tomatoes and make an awesome sauce though.
