We have a rule that you cant eat anything with a name, so I try to name them sparingly.

I also swear they're more likely to die if they have names.
Most of my birds look more or less the same, especially the girls, and everyone is pretty skittish. Ones that show an extra affinity for people tend to get names. Or sometimes some get descriptive names just to talk about them easier, but that doesnt necessarily put them in the named category.
proper cant eat / not for sale names:
Moonflower - white pullet
Snowflake - white cockrell
(out of 55ish birds, only 3 were white)
Speckles - would you guess hes a speckled/multicolored cockrell? my housemate has taken to him and named him.
Foghorn Leghorn - my main alpha roo who's gotta be like 8 years old or some such. also named by housemate even though she wants to eat him
Tim - cock(rell) who got his behind handed to him in a fight and I nursed him back to health and my SO named him (after the wizard in Monty Python) so now I cant get rid of him hahah
Avary - cockrell that looks like a mini version of your Foghorn. He was just extra people-friendly as a chick/ would run to meet you when you opened the brooder so he was named by a different roommate before he was sexed
the two speckled hens - really just a descriptive name but they are my main ladies and arent going anywhere
do you see I've got way too many BOYS WITH NAMES ahhhh
they're just more distinctive and its unfair because I cant keep them alllllll

there is also Henry and Henrietta, who arent for keeps. a set my roommate named for ease of ID. I have two cock(rell)s with a long white tail feather and one has 1 lady and the other has 2 ladies, so the pair is Henry/Henrietta and the trio has no name.
