Who ordered birds this spring and what did you get?

I did a custom order through my feed store from RedWing in CA. They dont sell to the public.

And they are here now......

20 Welsummers 5 males and 15 femles.

Spring is spelled F - U - N for some of us chicken lovers, from the newbies with their first chicks to the folks on their 50th order of chicks...

did you order chicks this year? If so, what did you get?

I ordered a few birds myself:

Ameracunas
Buff Orpingtons (new to me)
Silver laced Wyandottes
Barred Rocks
California White (new to me)
White Crested Black Polish mix (also new to me)
and
one Speckled Sussex male (to be the main man of the coop - also a new breed I haven't tried)
and
one Black Breasted Cubalaya as my 'designer chicken' to mix in as well


not due until the 22nd. We will see what happens!!

Oh gosh uummm I just hatched out 10 blue splash marans and ordered 5 Delaware pullets and one cockerel from the 4-H pullet chain and my mom ordered 10 Cinnamon queens also from the 4-H pullet chain.

Post Office called just after 6 this a.m. and all 29 (yes...29!) are doing great so far. Whew. Only 2 pasty back ends and all are eating and drinking. One packing peanut is a cornish x and they threw in a free female Buff Orp., maybe due to the week delay with our airport closed which was certainly not their fault. I'm very impressed with McM!

1 Buff Orp female, 1 exotic surprise, 15 cornish x and 10 "assorted" layer female chicks...and they shipped yesterday so should be at my post office tomorrow!

I have ordered from Welp and Ideal. Welp will be here on time 3/18 and Ideal pushed my order back to 4/4. Good thing my new brooder is a three story 30x36 rabbit hutch that I am converting.

In another month or so I'll set a bunch of EE project eggs. The turkeys will begin laying sometime next month as well.
