Who persuaded a non-BYC'er to get Chickens?

......Lets see I've encouraged my childhood/longtime friend (she has more than I do ), my neighbors now have nine, and my mom and step dad are starting on a coop this week.

I keep "aquiring" more chickens and them giving them away....(to keep Hubby off my back about littl biddies in the house all the time)bso I've got orders for 2 "starter" flocks from the florist I get bows from and one of my friends who I already convinced to get rabbits!!!

Yep. Gave a bunch of eggs to a friend when she came to visit. First her son, who wants to be Alton Brown when he grows up, started pestering her about when she was going to get more. Then her neighbors put up a chicken coop and run. Then she saw my broody Cochin mothering some chicks for me, and that was it--she asked if she could buy just a few from me whenever I'm getting some.

It was all downhill from there.

me and my mom were at the feed store/chick CENTRAL, and we see one of my mom's friends, buying who-knows-what. she shows them some chicks, tells them all the GOOD things about owning chickens, and they go on their merry way, with seven new bantie chicks!

When i got my chicks i could not stop talking about them........so the girl i work with couldn't stand it. she told her DH they were for the grandkids......right

I have been talking to a friend since last summer about getting chicks. She took the plunge over the weekend! I hope she gets as much pleasure from them as I have.

I haven't done it intentionally but I've recently had a long time friend start asking questions about how to get started. I'm trying to persuade him to either fence his future chickens or his Springer. He wants them free ranging and the dog is electric fenced. He doesn't seem to see it as a possible disaster in the making the way I do!

Oh yes I recently talked a complete stranger into leaving the feed store with 6 BR babies, water, feeder and all the works. She came for horse feed and left with that and chickens.

Caught her looking at them and said "You know they are tons of fun" and started talking to her and she decided they could go home with her and she would fix them up a stall in her barn.
