I mean REALLY REALLY LOVES THEM. I LOVE LOVE LOVEmy chickens. I am still crying over my dead roo (he died a week ago). My momma and dad came over today to see my new roo and my momma looked at me like I was crazy when I picked up one of my girls (her name is Turkey) and kissed her right on her cute lil beak.

I wanted chickens because DH eats more eggs than anyone I ever met and we have plenty of room for them. So I said "hey, why not get us some chicks and you can have all the eggs you want". My babes aren't old enough for egg laying yet so he'll have to wait. I am loving spending time with these chickens. I had no clue how great they were until I got my bitties. The more time I spend with them the more I ABSOLUTELY love them.

Did I mention that I LOVE THEM!!!!

I just wanted to make sure I'm not alone and crazy. How many of y'all LOVE YOUR CHICKENS?!?!?!?!?!

I totally hear you on that! I have my chickens even though I don't quite fall into the requirements to legally have chickens in this town(Las Vegas)...but no way in hell am I going to let anyone take them away from me!!! I'm on a paltry quarter acre, but I think it's adequate for three little hens!

Currently, I still have them penned in a spare(uncarpeted - thank God!) room, but will be moving them when they are a little older and the weather is not so dang hot. But, they aren't in the house all day, they do go out for a few hours in the morning and evening with supervision!

I spend all the spare moments I can with them one on one too! I LOVE my chickens!!! They are the only things besides my fish that calm me and bring some zen into my normally chaotic life of husband, business, two toddlers, dogs, cats and work!!!! Yes, I definitely LOVE them too!!

Oh you're not crazy (nor alone)! I kiss my chickens, cuddle them, pet them, sing to them, talk to them (like they talk back), host little chicken parties and so on. And if and when they die, they get a funeral and a flower or bush planted over them in rememberance. So up the crazy scale - I set out little dishes for them with special cake when it's a "birthday". No doilies or anything, but it's still weird to most people.

I say that we're the sane ones! There are many people who would benefit from raising chickens rather than some of the other stuff they do

I'm in love with mine as well. I spend every moment I can with them, giving them cuddles, cooing, pretending that they actually understand me when I have lengthy conversations about my day with them, I'm even past the point of caring when they poo on me. It's just getting worse daily and I love it!

I must also confess to talking to my chickens for the first time tonight. Tonight one seemed to be ignored by the others, after a roo really got her good. I held her and talked to her and told her to tell me all about it. She seemed to welcome my open arms.

Your not alone. I love mine too. They are so cool and relaxing to watch.

So funny you should ask...I'm very new to chickens (we got our first chicks just three weeks ago) and I was going to post a question tonight asking if it's weird to like my new little pets so much! I love to watch them (sleeping, eating, playing) and I'm totally fascinated with the way they're growing and the way their feathers are coming in. In fact, the kids and I have made a chart to keep track of the chicks' development. I'm also very, very charmed by the way they cock their little chick heads at me when I talk to them.

It's not like our family is lacking in animals, either--we've got rabbits, a Newfoundland dog, a pet mouse...plenty of creatures to bond with. The chicks are just so entertaining!

This is my first week with chicks! For years I've told my DH that I wanted chicks and he has now built me a coop!
Yes...I just love these little chicks too...I have a couple that are just in love with me and it is so much fun! They have started to come running when they hear me. One especially will just push everyone out of the way if she is in the back!
What a great project! This forum has been so helpful. There is a lot to learn, the chicks are cute and then we get to watch them grow up!
(Did I tell you that my daughter-in-law did point out that now that my youngest has left for college that my new found "hobby" may have something to do with my "empty nest"? mmm...I do call them my babies...and mmmmI am looking forward to some eggs soon...mmmm)

I recently adopted a few new chickens....one has FAST become my FAVORITE. She is a little Faverole. I call her Favor.

She makes the cutest cooing sounds. She gets picked on alot from my Buff Orps, and my Ameracaunas.(sp) When I go in the coop, she comes running over, and hops up and down untill I pick her up and cradle her in my arms like a baby. She coo's to me, and I talk to her.

She tells me about how mean all the others are to her. Yesterday, she rode around on my shoulder...while I tended the other chickens needs. She cuddled against my neck, and I would turn and give her a little " peck on the cheek"

She is now in a different pen, with Nice chickens...and getting a new coop for them soon. She will get the room with a window, for a view!
