Who said Quail Don't Roost?

I don't have any pics of them roosting at night & won't get any. The last time I shined a light in the aviary at night it scared the you know what out of them. It was bing bong time. Here's some roosting in day light hours. I added some 2x6's on the sides as well & they sleep on them at night. I noticed last night they were roosting side by side with their buddy's or girlfreinds.https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/uploads/63768_bobs_on_a_perch_012.jpg

Try red light...cva34

I hate to take a picture at night the flash will flush them.

Coturnix and buttons I beleive are the only old world quail we keep. Bobs, Gambels, California/valley, Mountain, and scaled quail are all new world. I'm not 100% sure on the harlequin and montezuma but I think they are both new world.

Montezuma (a.k.a. Mearns, Harlequin, and Painted <Cyrtonyx montezumae>) roost in trees, particularly the mesquite trees on the other side of my back fence. I've got a few harlequin (the African Coturnix delegorguei {big thank you to quaillady}) that like to sit on the lower limbs of the little "trees" I put in their cages but they sleep in a pile in a corner in their basket house.

Had a few coturnix long ago that slept in a small tree I didn't want to chop down when I built my pen. Only the Jumbos did it, everyone else slept huddled up in various locations.

As I discovered with my wacko broody, give them a chance and they may surprise you. My coturnix have never shown any interested in roosting, but they do like wicker baskets. I have several lying on their side and the girls use them for egg laying or sometime just chilling out.
