Thanksgiving deviled eggs

I just toss the extra eggs in a blender shell and all.. then pour into hot skillet and scramble for the birdies.

Funny I was just thinking about that this morning, if fresh quail eggs were as hard to peel as fresh chicken eggs.

But I saw a thread on the recipe forum a while back that claimed the solution to easy peeling fresh chicken eggs. I have tried a million different ways with no success, Until THAT way. IT WORKED! It was the easiest peeling ever!

Wonder if that technique would work on the quail eggs?

Solution is: bring water to a full rolling boil before putting eggs in. Cook 14 minutes. Cool and peel.

Someone try it and report back.

Cooking 14 minutes is a little long usually it's 7 minutes for hard boiled chicken egg and I can imagine that it would be less for a Button quail egg, the cold water right after boiling really does help the shells just slide off.

I personally would give them to kids and make a game out of it, besides their fingers are proportionate to the eggs.

I've never tried dissolving the whole shell, but I know if you leave cot eggs in egg dye (tablets and vinegar in water) too long the spots start coming off in sheets. Kind of neat and gross at the same time. They do make really nice Easter eggs!

So far, putting the eggs in ice water works the best. I just drain the pot then put ice cubes on top of the hot eggs.

So people suggested pricking the eggs on the air sack side with a needle helps. Anyone have any experience with this?
