Who says chickens can't fly?

I love it! I've seen my D'uccle fly about 30'....and my Sebright has gone about 10...but now I wonder how much further?

I never said chickens can’t fly ...
The biggest mistake I’ve made so far was getting Icelandic birds , a known landrace bird that needs to be free ranged . They would fly all over bouncing off my 10 foot run roof !!You had to wear a hat and protective gear in there

I sold them so they could free range before someone ( me) got hurt !

Half the fun is the observing how they fly. Next year I will be setting up so a bunch of my young games (about 60) will be free-ranging a field that is about 900 feet long. They will have a couple mowed paths they can walk on the way out and then will be able to fly the whole way back if they choose. I think they will choose to do so on some days. My intent is to film them on the return as they clear trees 50 feet up at border of poultry yard. The mountain video at start of thread has same problem I have had, camcorder not good when dark birds are flying against a dark background.
