Who says Guineas are unsociable?

I do think Rosie, or some variation thereof, is quite common for RIR names. I also had a Ruby and a Reba, though my Reba was not named for the country western singer, Reba McIntire, but for my late Aunt Reba.

The membership gave me my title-there was a big vote after suggestions were taken.

I can't tell my 3 current RIR's apart in looks or character which is a real shame, so they don't have names, just collectively called 'The Girls', I was down to one chicken (Cindy) after Rosie's demise and got the 3 RIR's when they were about a year old, there were no chicks around at that time, and I was more concerned about getting Cindy some company apart from the guineas, lol! I'd much rather raise any fowl from as young age as possible so that we can 'bond' - but the guineas are just getting plain silly now - most of them were hatched here underneath our deck last summer, I'm beginning to think that they look at me and scream "Mom"........trying to have a conversation with anyone who just happens to stop by my place is proving to be hard these days as they just come and join in!

LOL, here too... every time I have the vet out or the farrier here the decibel level goes thru the roof! Drives me (and everybody that's here) completely batty, I have to get the hose and chase them off, lol. It gets a little quite around here when I have Guinea customers here to pick up birds tho... I think they are all hoping they are not the next to go lol

That was really cute. And I love that it is titled "Oliver's Army" because someone long ago said to me that guineas running in a flock look kind of like a bunch of army helmets with legs. I totally agree with that description although since yours aren't all dark the helmet illusion is not quite the same.

Great flock!

On the way back from town, we took the scenic route that we love sometimes and saw four pearl (one was pied pearl) guineas chilling by the road at someone's house. I got such a hitch in my gut-I want my goonie-birds again! One of these days when we have a run-in shed or somewhere they can live separate from the chickens, I will have guineas again. *gosh, I sound like Scarlett O'Hara in Gone with the Wind, with her first raised to the sky, declaring she'll never go hungry again, LOL*

Wow, those guys look pretty cool just running along beside you. I have two that I raised from day old babies that act like I am the Big Bad Wolf. They stand back at a safe distance and hurl insults at me if I get anywhere near them.

I LOVE reading your Guinea stories on here! I'm actually quite concerned about my sanity this week, I usually feed the flock their dinner around 4.30pm, giving them enough time to all get some feed, before they head into the coop for the night - well the other day I was out running around a bit later than usual, as I drive down our lane, I look over towards our house, and ALL the freaking guineas are lined up on the front deck rail screaming at the house, I swear they thought I was inside! As I drove in and parked my car, they all came running at top speed down the front path with excitement and surrounded me as I unpacked the bags of shopping - complete madness!

We are actually looking at moving and I've just started looking at properties, I should be making the house, the horse set up all main priorities, but its the guineas that seem to be first in my mind of where their new home might be, and how far away the neighbors are!!!!
