OP, once a wild animal loses his fear of man made structures (and man, himself) he will continue to invade our space. That means where ever you took that fox he will seek out food closer to man and his domestic animals than he has before. He did it once, he will do it again. I don't like to kill animals, except for food, myself. However wild animals carry a lot of diseases, as well as their preditory threat to livestock, pets and other small cute things. I"m not sure you did anyone, yourself included, a favor by relocating such a fearless creature. Like the other posters, I hope you don't regret it in the future.

I have never relocated a wild animal ever. I merely did it because like I said I've never seen one here at 7L so I thought I'd give him a chance. I've been trapping my whole life & I'm 54 now so letting one animal go is not the end of the world. Most of the time I get on here & everybody gripes at me cause I killed the varmet. This past month I've trapped 2 coons & 3 opposums & took them as you say to different realm. I'm by far no tree hugger trust me but I do respect nature at the same time.

I feel your pain. People in general are mean. No matter what you do you will find a group of people that will tell you how wrong and stupid you are no matter what. I hate it. People are supposed to extend grace and forgiveness to one another. When we disagree, we are supposed to bring it in the most loving and respectful manner possible. I don't see that very often. It is sad. I also feel that the fox you let go was beautiful. I am an animal freak and a bit of a tree hugger... lol. I see the place for both relocation and killing them. I am currently trying to figure out how to cook fox. but anyway... i digress... I just wanted to share with you that I can feel your pain in the midst of the ignorance that we pour on each other... I have done plenty wrong and a few things right here and there... and I have learned that those who have grace and respect are very few and far between. I am sure this comment will get me in trouble but I hate the disrespect that I see at times. I hate how we are not polite and loving to each other. It really irks me.

the main reason I am against moving animals around is it spreads disease that and when you put a animal in where they are already animals the ones there just kill the intruder because it is their Territory and their food most folks do not realize this their heart is in the right place but a lot of states simply do not allow it as well most fines have gone up in recent years

I don't mean this statement to be case explicit, but as a general observation: Trapping problem animals and relocating them to a different area is compatible, and based on the same mentality, as "dumping" unwanted puppies, dogs, kittens, and cats away from home for someone else to deal with rather than face the responsibility of handling the matter oneself in an intelligent, and dutiful, way. The thinking many times is that to take pets to a pound just means they will be put to death, but if they are turned loose somebody will take them in. It doesn't happen that way. I have seen too many sad looking, frightened dogs and cats roaming down a highway wondering why they weren't wanted - and to be run over by automobiles; or cats and dogs that starved to death because everytime they wandered into some yard they were run off, or even killed by owner's dogs. The responsible thing to do with unwanted pets is to give them away, if possible, taken to the pound, or put down by the owner in a humane way. The same responsibility applies to trapped predators. Predators are territorial: coyotes, fox, mountain lions, wolves, bobcats, skunks, etc., mark their territories and patrol their boundaries. Intruders are either driven out or killed. Yes, on occasion, one is accepted just as sometimes a stray dog or cat is taken in. But that's the exception, not the rule. And, granted, a wild animal relocated has a better chance for survival than a dumped pet, but it still becomes a burden on the environment it is relocated to. If you have unwanted pets, despose of them humanely; if you trap predators, dispose of them in a humane way. In neither case is the humane way to dump them on somebody, or something, else to take care of.
