Who should fix it, your opinion

A little back story. My aunt ask me what we where doing with the old farm house on our farm. She wanted to rent it. We actually let them use it free of rent or deposit, all they had to do was the up keep of the house and the surrounding yard. Plus pay for their own utilities.


So here is where I need/want your opinion. A pipe broke. Who do you think should fix it, them or us? I fell they should since that would be considered part of the "up keep". What do ya'll think?

Personally, I think they should fix it. After all, RENT FREE living is rare these days. What will go next that you have to fix for someone living off your dime?

they arn't paying rent? have they done huge renovations and put out some cold cash? no? then they should pay for it

If they were paying rent you would fix it but since they aren't, they should. I really hope they aren't trying to make you pay for it.
