Who shows dogs?

I show Kerry Blue Terriers. I have attended Westminster several times although I've never had a dog in Westminster. I hope I will in the future. Right now I'm busy with 6 bantams, 4 rescue horses, a rescue llama, an african grey parrot, i norwich terrier and 3 Kerry blue terriers. So it has been difficult to make the show circuit.

I used to show. We showed one dog - our Neapolitan Mastiff called Murphy. He became the very first Irish Kennel Club Champion Neapolitan Mastiff and an International Champion. We struggled to keep attending shows with him after my first child arrived as most shows were quite a distance and had bad facilities for those with babies, etc. But we persisted til we got him his title. Thinking of it now - he really was a life saver and became my surrogate 'baby' while I struggled with a long fertility battle. I guess I owed him a lot for that. Sadly he took ill very suddenly exactly a year ago. My husband rang me at work to say he looked ill and I got home as quickly as I could. I took one look at him and said to my husband 'he's dying'. I went over, said his name and laid my hand on his head. He threw his head once, took a final breath and died. I still believe he had waited for me to come. He gave us so much pleasure - a wonderful dog. Feeling all teary eyed now thinking of him.

Thanks Whitewinterwolf. I suppose that it's always good to know that your pets/animals have had a good life because they were with you. Sad to think of the animals that haven't been treated well. What do you show? Has it always been the same breed or have you had different breeds?

I used to breed and show american pitbull terriers. It got to be to much. We still catch a show now and again when something pops up in our area.

My Ibizan just finished her championship her last weekend in CA a couple of weeks ago then came home and took BOB all 3 days last weekend.

My Whippet puppy got 2 RW and took WD and BOW on the last day under a very tough judge.

I have shown Minature Schnauzers and Norfolk Terriers. I have had many champions and shown all over the eastern US and once in California and Puerto Rico.
