who takes care of chicks

i had a bird hatch some eggs will she care for the chicks or should i and how long do i leave the other unhatched eggs with her

I am in a bit of the same boat, with a late/staggered hatch. Mom will take care of the babies, just need to make sure they can all reach food/water, but babies can go 2-3 days without right after they hatch. good luck!

I am really new to this but have had broody hens off and on for 20 years just not in the last 10 until just recently if your hen has hatched chicks she should take care of them as for staggered hatch Im not sure but as long as the hen is willing to sit you are in business. She will know when to abandon the eggs and take care of the babies. My most recent experience was with 2 broody hens who shared all responsibility and still are babies are going to be 2 weeks old Saturday and they hatched between day 19 and day 24 11 out of 14 I took three eggs away that I now think I should have left but still a good hatch from now on I will trust that mama hen knows far more than I do about having babies.
