Who uses Nutrena Nature wise Layer feed?

I currently live in Mesa, AZ. It is easy to get Nutrena at any feed store here.I use it faithfully and it is super cheap. My only suggestion is that you do not let it get damp at all in the bag. It will mold quickly and kill your chicks before you have a chance to counter it. I guess that would be for any feed though. I also like to put a little Poly.Vi.Sol in their water once in a blue moon to give them a boost.

Im with you guys, its around 20$ for a bag of feed here in Metro Denver, it used to be about 3 dollars cheaper.

Anyways, from what I have seen, there is very little difference between purina and nutrena nutritinally speaking, you can go on their websites and it will give you the breakdown of nutrients and percentages of each one. I have never used purina and I have never had a problem. I dont honestly think that the more expnsive brand is always "better" for most things, and chicken feed is no different.

I have fed Purina flock raiser to all the chickens for over 3 years, over the last 3-4 weeks I have changed them over to Nutrena flock raiser. Within a week of starting the Nutrena I started getting less and less eggs. At first I thought it might be changing from crumbles to pellets, but they are eating the pellets with out any problems. I'm now down to less than half the eggs I was getting + I'm feeding twice as much oyster shell and over the last few days I've started getting shell-less eggs. I'm going back to Purina. Saving $2.00 on a bag of feed isn't worth the huge reduction in eggs and doubling the cost of oyster shell.

Just want to say thank you for feeding help. We moved so will need to change our feed from a corn 1st ingredient to something else and do not know what to buy as they are used to the yellow mash. Where we lived before there were plenty of deer to give the food to if they didn't like it, but here at a lower altitude the deer are scarce and it is hard to pay for chicken food and they not eat it.

I know that this feed is relatively old but I am hoping that my input will help someone with their decision on feed. I was feeding my flock Blue Seal Home Fresh Egg Maker and was really satisfied with the feed. However, someone told me how good the Nutrena Nature Wise feed was and it was a bit cheaper than the Blue Seal so I decided to give it a try. That was 2 weeks ago. Within 2 weeks time, egg production slowed down, I began getting rubber eggs and one of my hens was nearly egg bound. As of today, we are back on the Blue Seal and I threw out the Nutrena feed to the deer. I would not recommend it to ANYONE! I intend on spreading the word to save others from experiencing the same thing I have.

Did you gradually switch the feed ,or just all at once?

Honestly, it was all at once only because I didn't have anymore of the Blue Seal left. Would that make a difference? Well I take that back... They still had some of the other left in their feeders...
