Who uses Nutrena Nature wise Layer feed?

Thank you for all the replies, I am still using my 50 lb bag of Purina chick starter, but will have to switch in a couple months.

I'm using Nutrena Laying pellets mainly because it's the store brand at my feed store. I ended up at that store when looking for a dog food that did not contain corn as my golden puppy is allergic to corn. I was switching from Canidae dog food as after they changed their formula last summer it gave all my dogs the runs. This feed store owner seemed to know a lot about different feeds, and carried quite a varriety of dog food. As I was feeding 3 Goldens an Otterhound and a Shiloh Shepherd at the time, and wanted to feed them all the same if possible, he suggested the Nutrena Loyall Lamb & Rice formula that contains no corn and is formulated for sensitive stomachs. It is about $15 less a 40# bag than Canidae and the dogs all did well with it. So when the dealer suggested the Nutrena Laying pellets, I bought it. I have 5 hens, 3 of laying age & 2 about 3 months old, that are eating it, and they seem to like it. Don't know what else to look for to recommend it. The egg shells are firm, but not to thick, and the Americuna is laying 4 eggs every 5 days so far. The Minorca has given me 1 egg in 5 days and the Cochin is still on strike.

I'm hoping they will all settle down into a regular laying schedule when we get their yard finished and can leave them in peace in their own space. For the time being they are in a partitioned off section of my front yard, but the dogs can see them and bark at them a lot, so I guess I'm lucky to even be getting ANY eggs!

WOW !!! Those prices are inexpensive. I use the Nutrena starter/grower and I pay $15.00 for a 50lb bag in Louisiana. I use the Arrow Laying Pellets for my older chickens and I pay $9.00 for a 50lb bag. I wish I could find Nutrena starter/grower at a cheaper price in Louisiana. I have had good results with Nutrena so far. I will have to check to see what the Nutrena laying pellets are here in Louisiana.

We are using Nutrena layer pellets at the moment, but I do not like them because 1) they contain animal protein, I shudder to think of the source 2) they contain bakery byproducts, and there are weird blue/green/red/yellow bits in the pellets. What is that, artificial coloring seems a bad thing to feed.

I am wondering if anyone has tried feeding Nutrena rabbit pellets as a base diet, they are vegetarian, and also 16% protein.

Yikes, I thought I was paying high prices, but you folks are really paying!

I used Nutrena NatureWise Meat Bird feed on my first batch of Cornish X early this summer, and am using it again on my present mixed batch from S&G. Last time I bought it (a month or so ago), I paid $9 for a 40# bag. I need to make a run to the feed store here in the next few days for another 25 bags or so, and I'll try and remember to report back. I think earlier this summer it was closer to $10 per bag. Still, that seems to be a great price compared to what others are reporting. I really can't compare it to any other feed since that's about all I've used, but apart from having GMO grains in there (which is unavoidable unless you want to spend >$25 per bag around here, if available at all) I'm happy with it.

Actually, I did use a bag of chick starter/grower from ADM when I started my first batch, and didn't like it. Don't know how to explain it, except that it just didn't smell right. Not bad or off, but not fresh and wholesome either. The NatureWise smells much better.

I use Nutrena layer pellets and have no complaints. I'm embarrased to say I have no idea what I pay for them. I'm always buying several bales of bedding at the same time when I'm in the feed store. Guess I better start paying attention!

I feed Nutrena from day one. I haven't had any problems feeding it.

Nutrena pellets and crumbles here. $11 for 50 pounds. I mix 1 part crumbles, 1 part pellets, some flax sees and a little scratch too.
