My ND says "cold medicines" keep people sick longer and create secondary sinus infections by drying things out so stuff can't move out of the body -- they create "pockets" of bacteria in the sinuses.

We don't get the 'can't-breathes' or sinus infections anymore because we use Mucinex any time the sinus is involved.

Our colds also take less than half the usual time to go away.

i hate it. its been like 5 years since i took it, and i forgot why, so i let dh talk me into this morning. this is a man who can take major rx pain pills and not feel anything. i can drink one cup of coffee and bounce off the walls. so yes, sudafed is no good for me. no mas.

I hate to tell you, but my friend from the East (India) told me his mom gave them brandy when they were sick. So booze appears to be a universal medical fall back! Why else would they put so much of it in Nyquil?
