So I did not get the pair I was hoping for from my malines hatch with my broody hen. But the two males we got are growing on track to be decent meat birds, so husband was convinced to drive back down and pick up some day old chicks!

I'm getting strong cockerel vibes from the biggest chick (11 o'clock in the huddle in the first pic). The rest look more pullet-ey to me, but that might just be the wishful thinking.

First hatch here

Randomly assigned. They don't allow visitors on the farm, they had the chicks boxed up and met us in the driveway.
I have always wondered how people sell autosexing breeds.. Since Malines are rare it is probably easier for them to sell as straight run, but I would imagine that for most of those breeds, people only want to buy the pullets. Excited for you to have these babies!

Nearly 2 weeks. Right now only one looks male to me. I was going to get individual shots but then we had to go do farm chores for the day and I ran out of time.

Took the opportunity to get individual shots of each chick when I cleaned the brooder this morning.

And this is the runt. Im thinking pullet, but looking at the outstretched wing I'm waffling a little. She's always been the smallest and appears to have a wing deformity. They angle up at the last joint. If she is a pullet I want to try to add her to my pet flock, as these defects disqualify her from my breeding flock(s).
