Who waters with snow?

If it's warm enough to play in snow (and for most chickens any temp is warm enough) there's no reason not to let them go play in it themselves. Mine have the coop doors open when there's several feet of it out. Only the guinea fowl will go wandering through deep snow but the others gather at the door way so they can see the snow and occasionally venture out in to the shallow stuff around the coop.

Yeah, we just got our girls a month ago and they had no desire to go outside for the longest time. Finally I bribed them out with food and now leave the door open most of the days when I am home to let them roam around. So far, they don't go very far. Mostly just stick their heads out the door and peck at the snow. At least I can be comfortable knowing they aren't going to run away, not in that cold white stuff!!
