Who were the Romanov's

Well here's a fun little tidbit for this thread, my great grandmother was actually a seamstress for the Romanov family. My grandmother liked to claim that she was Anastasia, and was given to my great grandmother to bring to the US. My grandmother was a bit of an eccentric, and loved to tell a good story!

OMG, not to hijack the thread...............but I either read or saw on TV that the ladies actually had jewels sewn into their corsets...............................wow, what an interesting lady your grandma was!!!!!!!!

On a side note, about 10-15 years ago the Romanov jewels toured the country, and I went to see them. Wowie!!!!! They had some of the most amazing things: tiaras in flower shapes with bees that moved when the wearer walked, strings of marble sized pearls literally as tall as the wearer and many other lovely objects. This was just some of the stuff that wasn't broken down and sold. The pearls in particular are amazing. At the time, there weren't really any cultured pearls, and a diver might find one or two amazing pearls in a lifetime, so each of these strands was several lifetimes worth of work.

Google Jewels of the Romanovs

Definately google them.

korea war????? A few decades off there.

My great grandparents left Russia about the same time the czar left the thrown.

Imp's right. Basically that's who they were. They were related to Queen Victoria, and therefore most of the other european royality. Czarina Alexandria was from Germany and the granddaughter of Queen Victoria.
They all were murdered in 1917. Rumors still go on that Anastasia survived and escaped...but it seems impossible.
Anyways, thats all I can tell you because I used to really like history, especially the romanov's story, but I havent read it in a couple years. But you should definitely, definitely, definitely google them. And look on wikipedia. Great stuff. Amazing people.
