I was at ace hardware today picking up some light bulbs and they had some wild bird seed on sale. After looking at the contents, I picked up a 5lb bag for $2.00. I just gave it to my layers and roos and OMG! It is like their chicken crack! I unloaded half of the bag ( I have 40 chickens) and they were still jumping up and down like "give me more"! I put most of it in their hay we put down for traction when it was raining and the run had become a mud hole, so they have to scratch for it but it was a great time to watch and will keep them busy for the next couple of days!

OMG! I need some. I love to give treats to my hens. I really love to see them freak out over something!

Mine have been making a beeline to the trees that hold the wild bird feeders every morning ever since we hung out the wild bird feeders last week. They snarf up any dropped seeds. I consider it only fair since the wild birds have been sneaking into the coop to eat my chickens feed.
Wanna see them go really nuts? Buy them some strands of millet (the kind sold in pet depts. for caged birds).
