Whole Foods & Trader Joes "fertile eggs" 16/3/10 DEVELOPING JUST FINE

I know you can hatch refrigerated eggs and have no problem with them. when my flock was attacked by a weasel, killing most of them, I took all the eggs I had from certain chickens from the refrigerator and put them in the incubator. I now have 7 chicks from 2 different hatches (found some more eggs in the lower bin) and all are happy and healthy. they would have been in there up to 2 weeks for the longest set.

Update on store bought eggs.

The dog wanted scrambled eggs so I figured I should candle these before scrambling them and to my amazement 3/4+ were developing just fine (day 5)!!!!!!

One had a blood ring so pulled and trashed it.

UNBELIEVABLE!

Those eggs were 12 and 16 days old at setting, and had sat in fridge(s) unturned all that time!

Also they are in an old vibrating (worn out fan bearings) manual turn Brinsea that got turned MAYBE 3 times/24hours.


The dog had to make do with a can of dog chow!!!

They are doing great.
I actually gave most of the eggs and incubator to some kids to continue the incubation and hatch the eggs out. The kids are doing great with them. The couple of eggs that I kept myself are also developing perfectly!!!

My daughters classroom hatched fertilized eggs from Whole Foods and they seem fine. I can't figure out what breed they are though....does anyone know? The eggs were large and brown and the chicks are white. One has a bit of black on a wing. Hard to tell because they are only a couple of weeks old. All hatched and none were deformed!!

I set 36 Trader Joes eggs and hatched 15 chicks out this April. Not bad for $7.50

They hatched just fine and are long gone. I have some more in the incubator due to hatch next week. Will post a pic. They looked like white leghorns. Big healthy chicks as the eggs were a great size.

did whole food eggs hatch or Trader Joes eggs hatch because i have some whole food eggs in the incubater right now
