Well, I got a surprise this afternoon! I apparently lost track of the date (stupid COVID) and wasn't expecting my chicks to start hatching until next week. When I looked at the date I had written, it was tomorrow! But the chicks apparently didn't read the calendar, so they started when they were ready - TODAY!
I freaked out because I hadn't taken the eggs out of the egg turners yet. I unplugged them as soon as my husband told me they were hatching. I guess these guys aren't getting a lockdown! I'm afraid to move the turner now, as I have one chick pipped in the other turner as well. Guess I'm just gonna wait and see how they do. The ones that have already hatched seem to be having no problem climbing around the inside of the incubator. Needless to say I'm rushing around getting their brooder ready.
I hope I'm doing what's right. We shall see. This is my first hatch with my refurbished antique incubator and I'm really excited!
