Who's Going to the TN Valley Fair Sept 5-14?

Woohooo I've been to the FAIR. Okay that was a SERIOUS LOAD of chickens! Note - not ONE Partridge Rock in the whole building - sigh. When I do take mine to a show eventually at least there's one class I can win lol.

Lori, You're little guys are too cute but look a little lost squished in among the d'uccles. I've got photos but the camera is ticked at me so is not downloading, I'll figure it out. I talked to them though, told them they were more handsome.

That was some serious silkie competition - oh my.

Man, there's screaming competition in the Langshans at this fair. Had to be fifty of them.

A pair of Partridge Cochins had me drooling and the BB White Rock Roo was massive. Not a single rock for sale. More sighing.

The Langshans made the Jersey Giants look like midgets. And they had them in blue and splash this year.

I'll chat more later, going to go wrestle the camera into submission.

Thanks for the update, Walkswithdog!
Yeah, they were happier to be together when they were scared. Wondered how they were doing now. Can't wait to check on them.

Had any prizes been awarded yet when you were there?

Aye, some prizes had been awarded but they hadn't worked their way through bantams yet, and the mille's were practically last in Bantams.

They were beginning silkies when I gave out.

I guess I'm not too confused to work with chickens. In the breeds I have an interest in I did pick my first three, and their first three were usually spot on! I'd like to argue about the 2nd 3rd Barred Plymouth Rock hens but otherwise.

No NHR's. Sigh. Some decent RIR entrees.

A total of three dorkings - I see some future for me there.

No partridge rocks, only two partridge cochins. I get to win with anything I bring in the way of Partridge Rocks.

The dark cornish looked good but it was a small class.

Photos are going up to photobucket now. I may actually have taken a pic of BIS before they judged. He was totally impressive.

If WalksWithDog didn't get any orp pics I'll try to later on. I know I'll be back another day. And I'll remember my camera next time. And I'll look to see what they have and how the winners look while I'm there tonight, too.

Orpingtons actually didn't have either a large class or a great class, surprisingly. Very few proper butts and backs. Wyandottes also were not super well represented.

And both were sandwiched in the poorest lit aisle in the room. It was frustrating. Poor overall showing for both those breeds, though there was one Buff Orp that made me smile.

A much better showing of Orps happened at the Lebanon show but of course I'd forgotten the camera. Sigh.
