Who's Hatching Ducks? Hatch With Us!! *Page 3*

I have 2 Khaki Campbell and 2 Blue Swedish. Tried to hatch Call duck eggs and out of 20 I have 2 eggs I am waiting on. I had 4 due to hatch last week. At 30 days nothing happening so I opened them up. They were fully developed but you could tell the beak and feet were not hard as they should be. They made it that far and something went wrong. I was very upset! I am not to optimistic about the other 2 I have. They are due to hatch April 24. These were shipped eggs but fertile so I do not want to give up. I am up on Glade Park.

I feel like the man on the street reporter....we have another baby mostly out of its shell, another one with a beak coming through, two more pipped and cheeping. That leaves four we aren't sure about yet. Gotta get a photo of them all piled up sleeping.

From recent experience...give goose eggs a full WEEK afte their date...They are ok to pick up and mess with (minimally) during their hatch time...listen and feel for tapping and peeping.

Goose egg shells on mine were like concrete, and thicker than a penny, so they might need youto crak the shell at the air sack end...I had to on two of three eggs.

And...it took a LONG imte for them to absord their yolk sac...nearly 17 hours and one still managedto nearly pull its belly out coming out of the egg!!

Which, in case this happens...srana wrap and tape a diaper-esque contraption on it and it goes right back in on its own without exposing the beely to too much debris or inhibiting the gosling's movement.

But, as the saying goes for hatching goslings...wait, watch paint dry in the rain, wait some more, then check for advancement.

It took mine six days of rocking and knocking AFTER day 36 to get out of thier shells finally!

Okay, I am feeling a little left out.

I still have 11 days before my ducklings are even due. I love all the pictures though and hope to post mine soon, like in another 2 weeks.

10 out of twelve fertire and developing well!!! I candled them all last night and they all are moving around quite a bit!

Very exciting! AND my two goslings from their week-long venture in the hatcher are doing well...both are girls!!! YAY!

I currently have a white rock chicken sitting on 5 duck eggs. They are a mixture of runner, mallard and pekin eggs. This will (hopefully) be my first hatch. My chicken went broody and since I don't have a rooster I figured I'd give her some duck eggs to sit on and we'd see what happends. They are due to hatch next week. I candled last night and 4/5 are developing. At first I didn't really care if they did anything or not, but now that they are actually doing something I'm getting anxious. I know people have used chickens to hatch out other birds but should I be doing anything special for these duck eggs? Should I be misting them? I hope I'm not too nervous next week waiting for them to hatch out. I understand now why it is soooo hard to wait.
