Who's Hatching Ducks? Hatch With Us!! *Page 3*

we have our white pekin, Delta, she sits on eggs and hatches them for us! She hatched out guinea eggs last year, but you have to get them out right after they hatch or she will step on them with her great big feet!!!!

Yes you can stop turning the duck eggs on day 25. Up the humidity after removing the chicken eggs. I never mist or use the damp cloth for duck eggs, I just raise the humidity and still get a very good hatch rate. Dont think it would hurt to mist them, but make sure you use warm water.

Thanks deerman i will stop the turner on the 25th day and raise my humidity.
I'm nervous this is my first time hatching ducks and i just want to do everything right

Thanks all for the advice. I've really been waffling with this. I had my LG all set up and was going to put the duck eggs in there anyway, but changed my mind this morning. Haven't been able to get the humidity below 65% in the LG so I shut it off. The duck and chicken eggs went in the Sportsman this morning.

The humidity was 44% so I did mist the eggs slightly which increased the humidity to 46%. I'll watch them very carefully (and panic for the next 28 days!)

Just wanted to update - today is day 8 for both the chickens and the duck eggs. Candled all and here are the results:

Out of 12 shipped duck eggs, 10 are good. One was dirty and starting to rot, and the other must not have been fertile. I've been comparing the air cells to other duck candling pics at day 8 and they look right on track! Average humidity has been 42-43% so I've been worried. Have been spritzing with water once or twice a day.

Out of 39 chicken eggs, only two weren't fertile and a third had a blood ring. They look perfectly on schedule.

Our runner duck eggs are in the LG at DBF's and due to hatch this Thursday. We candled those last weekend and only 1 out of 16 shipped eggs wasn't fertile. He's concerned because he didn't see them moving but at this stage I don't think they have room to move alot. They looked perfectly fine to me.

Yep - this is really tough for me because it's the first time. I thought for sure I'd candle today and there'd be nothing because the humidity is too low so I was surprised! DBF is starting to panic that all 15 of the runner ducks are going to hatch and what the heck are we going to do with 15 of them??!!! He's never hatched anything before, although he's been here to see the chicks hatch. Now he finally understands what I go through!!! I'll post pics on here when they hatch.

That's funny! Tell him you can always keep them till they are like a month old, then pick a pair or trio or whatever and sell the rest. All the babies I have had were quacking (girls that is) by 5 weeks old.

This will be my 4th duck hatch, but the first time with my own eggs! So I'm hoping for a good hatch
