Who's Hatching Ducks? Hatch With Us!! *Page 3*

You can go and mark the ones that are in there with the date, then mark any new ones laid with the date layed. Then I would leave them in there for up to 2 weeks to see if she will set. If, after 10-14 days, she still hasn't went broody take the oldest eggs out of the nest. You can use fine grained sand paper to get the worst dry stuff off, others have said they use very warm water, run the egg under it, and wipe dry. I don't do this personally, so I don't know how well it would work or if it would affect them.
Rouens are not supposed to be broody birds, but there are many people on here that have broody rouens and pekins.

Runners seem to be easier than calls. I've put over a dozen call eggs in the bator now and NONE of them developed! I have 14 more that I've collected this week that I'm going to put in on Saturday when I weed out the non-developing geese and other ducks, so

that we get some action.

I did end up putting all those saxony eggs in the bators (the ones that were sent to me by mistake) but I won't know how they are doing until next week. Are they easy - who knows. I can't seem to find much info on them besides Dave Holderread's book.

5 Days until first hatch! I stop turning on Sunday!

The one buff goose and 4 white runners are the first and they are all moving arond like good little birds...then I have two more buffs, an embden, and like 6 more white, black, and blue runners after that.

Plus, next week my holderread's buff geese are coming - so regardless of whether or not my guys hatch, I'll still have reet-reets (as my kids call them) to cuddle!

Well, I was double checking dates, and technically day 28 for three of those eggs is tomorrow - my calls that have lived so far (one last time, and this one still kicking) have gone to day 28 - the ones who hatched on day 26 or sooner have died on me.

I have four more eggs to go into the hatcher monday (calls) so I am planning on a day 28 hatch for them. Maybe it's just my humidity or temps, but my calls that hatch early don't make it - the ones who hatch "late" do ok.

My little girl who is in the bator now is looking good (all things considered) not on her feet yet, but she looks more like Squishy did his first 24 hours.

I hope I hope I hope.....

They can be and the females more so than the males - I had one (female) who was super loud, the one I have now (female) is quiet unless she is in distress (like if I try to pick her butt up to make her go to the coop

)

I guess it's just each duck's personality whether they are loud or not.

My swedish ducks are more loud than the two adult call ducks I have right now.

Are yours standard or minis? (I have both). I can't wait til Mama has her baby this spring - not certain of the date, so been watching for signs - nothing yet, I thought it might be April, but maybe May ? Guess it'll happen when it happens.

I have her last baby - Nutter Butter (aka / Butters, the most adorable mini donkey in the world).

I just got a spotted mini Jack so I can breed her again later (and Butters when she gets old enough).

Oh, let me show you my donkeys! I've been waiting for an opportunity to post the gratuitous donkey photo! LOL!

Got one out of the shell! The other one has slightly widened the pip hole, but that's it. No action out of the other 2 eggs. I think one of those quit last week though.

I am back at work.

The new baby is still drying off in the incubator. It is talking to the other egg with the tiny bill sticking out of it.

Still no sign from the other two eggs.

I think the one that hatched is khaki x runner. It is long and skinny.

The camera battery in on the charger and I will snap some picks when I get home.
