Hi all....well those chickies are adorable and congrats to all of you ! Next year a 'bator for me ! BUT...those little duckies are just the cutest. What kind is the dark one with those adorable black feet ??? Gotta get one of them !

As of 5:00 this morning, a SPR had hatched, but everything else was the same. I want ahead and pulled out the two Marans eggs that had started zipping yesterday then quit. One of them just needed a little help (which I hate doing) and the other one died. The one Marans that pipped towards the bottom of its shell died too. I went ahead and helped the Orp. that's been pipped for 2 days now because it had not progressed at all. Again, I hate doing that because there is generally a reason they can't get out of their eggs. I won't help except for so much either, then they have to get out on their own. I also peeled back a small amount of shell on the Olive Egger to check and see if it was still alive and it is. I don't see anymore pips on the last two Marans, 2 SPR's, or the other Olive Egger.

I will get some more pics once I transfer these little fuzzy butts to the brooder.

Of the 21 Dels and 2 BBS Orps, 13 Dels have hatched, one is zipping and not sure the others are even pipped yet. Not bad, really, for this point. Orps are usually late to the party.

Stacey, I know how you feel about helping. If I had 100 chicks in the bator, I may not feel so inclined to do that, but when you have a small number, you really want every one you can get. Some have just gotten in a bad position and need a tiny extra push. Others should never hatch due to issues with them.

I had one more hatch last night and my cracked egg pipped and died. There is one more in there and I pipped it cause I could hear it cheeping. The other one did die before lockdown.

this morning started day 20 for me and it's not going too good so far. 6am temp was down to 96.6 i dunno how long it was like that. it was 100.8 at 10 last night so i adjusted the temp and checked back at 7:00 and temp was 101.2 then checked again at 8:00 and i think my 4yo tried to help cause temp and rh spike to 103.5 and 81% ugh. knob on thermostat was all the way up. it was like that for less than an hour i know so hopefully the babies will be ok. now the temp is back down to 99.7 and rh is 68%. wish me luck! and congrats to all of u with new babies.
