I have a flock of silkies and Cochin bantams. Two buff silkie hens, two white silkie hens and a black silkie roo (however I know for sure it wasn't him) as well as a black Cochin bantam hen, a barred Cochin bantam rooster and a splash frizzle Cochin bantam rooster. At the time of this particular egg being laid, the silkie roo hadn't even started crowing yet, much less breeding anyone. My three mature silkie hens, two buff one white, have all been bred an laying as well as taking turns and sitting for about a month now. One egg finally hatched today and I have 4 or 5 others that look like they'll be due in a week. The chick that hatched is sorta tawny, smoky buff colored. 4 toes on each foot, feathered legs and feet. His skin is multi colored, his feet for example are pink while the skin on his face is dark. Silkie comb. Do y'all think the frizzle splash or the barred roo is it's daddy?

Can you post a picture of the chick? : )

Edit; and how do you know it's not the black silkie? Had the black rooster ever been with the ladies?
He had been with them, but he hasn't made any breeding attempts up until two weeks ago, the two Cochin boys were already crowing and breeding.

Just cause you haven't seen him doesn't mean he hasn't ; )

Once the chick is maybe a week old I'd feel comfortable giving you a guess, let him get some wings feathers, that'd be a way to see silkied or frizzled genes : ) the skins different color cause he's got different genes, the toe and skin makes me feel confident he's at least half silkie : )

I'm pretty positive that it's mom is a buff hen, if the black silkie had been his dad I think it would've had 5 toes
