I have 8 girls. 1 Easter Egger that has been laying for close to a year now. She is a year and a half old. I have 3 Black Sex Links that have been laying since they were 5 months old and I got them this past spring. I have 2 Blue Andalusians that are just over 3 months old and 2 Production Reds that are the same age. Just over 3 months old. For the past 3 days I have been getting 5 eggs each day as opposed to my usual 4 eggs per day. How is it possible that one of the others who is not yet 3 1/2 months old would be laying???

I suspect it is from the Production Reds . Some chickens develop somewhat earlier. :idunno
An option to be sure, is to spread some food color on the chickens' vents in question. Use different color per chicken.

Oh wow, never thought of the food coloring. I might give that a try. Thank you!

Hmm, hard to tell.
Our sneaky hen laid her extra in the night, too....
Black Sex Links are v. prolific actually.

Have to see!
I am wondering if it is something like that. I did go out and check the combs of the 2 Blue Andalusians and the 2 Production Reds and all four combs are very small and a very light colored pink.

That does not sound like the comb of a layer...
It could be more than one black sex link contributing to the extra.

That sounds to me like what is going on.
