Who's Laying?!

Using lipstick is another suggestion I've read.
Tried that ,,,,,, do you know what Dear Wife did when she found out.

Well, you're not supposed to use the wife's stash of lipstick. SMH.
Did you really try it?
No,,, I never really had to determine which chicken layed which egg. Small flock and each chicken that did lay, the eggs were slightly different. My EE each had a different color. My RIR , well they were brown, and I never got more eggs than chickens. My other chickens were size proportioned. Banties, and midsize fowl like my Polish, were distinct in size.

But I do recall the lipstick marking will work. Get cheap lipsticks from Dollar store, and different shades to determine which hen.
The food color is easy since you get 4 different colors in a package. That can be put into a medium like cosmetic jelly, and it will stay moist to mark the egg.

Never heard Vaseline called "cosmetic jelly".
Individuals use to remove mascara. There are other uses for it also. Some peeps use to treat leg mites. I know chickens can eat it, but my choice for leg mite treatment is Crisco shortening.
In Happy Days, times, the greasers used something similar in their hair. I am not sue Vitalis is still around. Then came Brylcream,, less greasy.
