what's a tv dinner?

either I or my dh make dinner nightly. We rarely eat out, and if we do it is pizza at home when neither of us feel like making dinner. Mc Donalds is a treat for the kid. We eat salads with chicken, beef or pork in it or on the side. Breakfast is a bagel or egg sandwich from home. coffe with coffee mate. Maybe a hot choc. Only time there are cookies, cakes etc in the house is holidays. Fudge is made at the commercial kitchen so that isnt in the house generally.

I just need the extra assistance losing this weight. I eat healthy. I do exercise. But I am facing being unable to exercise due to surgery. The weight I carry still isnt healthy for my heart or my joints. So I am thinking of helping my body out.

Yes, your body requires a certain amount of fat each and every day, however most americans consume wayyy too much of it - and fat alone doesnt make you fat - its the excess sugar and carbs that make you gain weight as well. Your body can only use so much carbs for energy and resources - what it doesnt use, it stores and converts OVER to fat, thereby creating more fat. This was our way of survival way back when when times were lean, its a built in mechanism. Therefore - limit carbs, you limit the resource to gain fat. Limit fat intake, you limit heart disease and high cholesterol.

To average out the caloric intake of one that is on 1400 calories (or less) here is the the Daily Recommeded Intake is as of today:

- fat based on 30 percent of calories
- saturated fat based on 10 percent of calories
- carbohydrate based on 60 percent of calories
- protein based on 10 percent of calories. (The DRV for protein applies only to adults and children over 4. RDIs for protein for special groups have been established.)
- fiber based on 11.5 g of fiber per 1,000 calories.

So if you are on a 1400 calories a day--would have a recommended intake for fat of 46.6 grams or less per day using the above calculations [0.30 times 1400 = 420; 420 (calories) divided by 9 (calories per g of fat) = 46.6 g of fat]. However - remember that for every fat gram its 9 calories and for every protein its 4 calories - so you can get twice as much food and half the fat intake by swapping it all out for higher protein items.

Again, if you went down from 1400 to 1200 and lower (and most doctors do not recommend going any lower than 1200 calories per day (putting you down to 40 grams daily from above) with no less than 30 grams of fat - thats pushing it at less than 30 grams) then where does that leave you?

I'm you lost the weight

and have kept it off - thats wonderful! I just really have issues with ANY company that promotes diet pills when it can be done without them....through diet and exercise - even if one cannot excercise - it can be done through diet alone. Ask any nutritionist or dietician - even my endocrinologist (who specializes in nutrition, sports medicine, & internal medicine) cringes when people ask him about diet pills - whether it be Alli or Meridia - yeah - remember that pill? Same thing as Alli except RX form.
