and going back or has gone back to school?

What are you taking?

I'm curious to know how many of us there are.

I'm going back to finish my BA and then an additional year to get my teaching certificate. My goal, to be done before I turn 45. I'll be cutting it close, especially as I am 42 and will also be working full time for at least one year of it.

ummm I turned 46 today and have only NOT been going to school since 2004. I have 7 degrees and guess I just do not know what I want to do when I grow up.

I was a lawyer but enjoyed going to school so I also have a masters in secondary education and a bacherlors in political science and accounting.

I have actually been considering going back to school just to take some liberal arts classes.

I'm with Cetawin, I love school. There are so many classes I would still like to take and areas of interest I would like to pursue, I could stay in school for years. It is unfortunate that it is almost looked down upon to be the cliche of the career student.

As far as your main question goes though, my husband and I both went back to school in our 30's. I meet other students all the time that are my age or older and have gone back to school for a second (or third) degree or have just started college for the first time. It is pretty common anymore.

I am ... been thinking about getting back to working on my masters ... but school always seems interesting about this time of year, and then it turns out to be ... school.

I'm just finishing up my teaching degree. I turned 40 on the 16th. Its been a long haul. I started back and then the hubby got deployed. So then I started back again, he went to school in Georgia. I just kept going that time. I worked full-time until last year for the local school district, but then I had to quit to student teach. Now I don't have a job or school. I'm utterly lost. The kids are in high school and college, so they aren't home much either.
The sad thing is now that I'm so close to my degree ( I have one class left) I'm not so sure I want to teach. The politics and parents are getting insane.

I finished my B.A. at 29 and my M.A. at 31. I've been lazily pursuing a Ph.D. for the past several years. I also teach as an adjunct instructor at a couple of institutions of higher ed. I just LOVE teaching non-traditional students. They are so focused and hard-working. More than once, I have had these students express doubts about their abilities or fear of fitting in. By the end of the term, they are leaders in their class - very confident. I harp at people - Go back to school!

I got my R.N. degree at 42 last year.... best decision I have ever made.

Now, I am going back and taking photog courses for fun.

I would love to go back and start working on my APN but I am still paying for the first round of school. I just can't afford it.
