Who's Setting Eggs This Week[end]? [August 8-14]

My fingers are crossed for you too,

I started them on Thursday night and so far NOTHING IS GROWING :(
I picked up 6 Orps for a local lady here and 4 SLW from the guy I bought my pullets from so there are 13 eggs and nothing seems to be growing. The air cells in the 3 eggs that survived where detached and looked pretty messed up.

BUTTTTTTT.....

The lady I bought the eggs from said that she'd collect some more eggs for me this week and we'd work out a price. She said she feels awful about it. I did offer to pay a reasonable price for 7-8 more Orp eggs from her plus shipping, I just can't afford another $70 batch...PLUS I'll be able to set them up in the new brinsea incubator!!

Today's looking pretty good right now!
That is GOOD news!!More eggs. It HAS to be better!!You know someone the other day here said they put eggs in with detached cells and they still hatched,.maybe dont give up yet on those others . Whats to loose?

Question for those that are on their 3rd hatch (or more) this year. Can we talk about how we are juggling these flocks? I have the bator in the spare room, the brooder in the mud room, the run separated into two areas, and two separate roost areas in the coop. The kids get shifted around depending on their age/size. Eventually hope to all be integrated. Except for the roos. Anybody need a Black Copper Marans Roo (or 4) in Southern California?

Lol!!! I know what you mean. I've got the bator in the spare room, bantam chicks in a large water tank in my dinning room, and I have turned my green house into a brooder for my larger chicks. Also hopping to integrate them all into my main chicken coop someday soon. When This batch hatches they will go in the tank and the bantams will move to the green house, and so on down the line. Not to mention I have been separating out one hen at a time from the main chicken coop to a smaller one I usually use for breeding pairs, to figure out who is eating eggs.

I had a broody bantam buff cochin due to hatch out yesterday. She was sitting on 6 eggs. Out of the 6 eggs she broke one, two were rotten, one hatched and one that died in the shell. Been keeping a check on her today. The one that hatched was a french black copper maran. She got off the nest and deserted it and it died. If I have anymore hatch from broody hens I will take them away right after they hatch and put them under my heat lamp in my brooder. I have 2 french blue copper marans sitting on eggs due to hatch Sunday and Tuesday. Will keep a close eye on them incase they hatch early.
