Who's Setting Eggs This Week[end]? [August 8-14]

Well it seems like my temp spikes in the early morning hours but that's also the coolest time so i think due to the house cooling the incubator may be compensating and making it hotter in there cause when i wake up and check the temp it was at 103 this morning it's set at 37.2 to compensate the temp spikes and seems to maintain between 99 and 100 during the day cause it's 80 degrees in the house with the ac on. I put a temperature monitor on one egg and it seems correct at 37.5 which is 99 degrees so even if it goes up a bit in there it should be ok. I am maintaining the humidity at 50 and hoping it will drop to 45 soon. I candled a couple eggs and did not see much difference in them but it's only day 2 so the wait continues.

i was thinking of getting that one too. I decided on the Genesis hovabator 1588 after reading the LONG thread on the Raptipro 5000...they discussed both. Sounds like a great machine.. They have ALL the tweaks you need to get a perfect hatch..but I DO RECOMMEND you read that thread... they have suggestions for the 2 temp readings (top read different from bottom) and then they have an idea to increase FRESH airflow into the bator for lockdown...since you have a month to wait anyways... go check it out... there was a gal on there that has it all figured out...

due to fallin!!

on to another investagation!!...lol

I fear candling too much. I worry that if I look at them too long (like waiting for movement) I will cook them. Can somebody allay my fears or tell me the facts or something?

Now Thats Awesum!!....I remember them bein BRITE AS HECK!!
Lite up the WHOLE classroom....lol
This is what we use, it's an old carousel type slide projector that I got from my mother-in-law. We just cut small a hole in a piece of cardboard (cereal box) and taped it over the light, so it was the right size for candling eggs, and cover the top where slides would normaly go. The two pictures below are the brown eggs you see in the top picture at day 4 (the pictures do not do it Justice, you can see much better in real life) I have even bought so called candlers from hatcheries and this works way better.

may i join as well? I know I'm a day late.

Had 19 eggs arrive today, and put them in my hova 1588 just after lunch. I'm a first timer, and incredibly excited and a bit nervous about incubating.....especially with shipped eggs. Of course, with this arrival date, eggs are on track to hatch on the 1st day of school.....poor DS.
