Who's Setting Eggs This Week[end]? [August 8-14]

I had a nice suprise this morning. My broody French Blue Maran is sitting on 12 eggs due to hatch tomorrow. She has started early. Have to chicks and 5 more pipping.

Down to 12 and I know there is at least one more in there that is not looking good either. This is day 10 for me. Fingers crossed the rest of them make it!

how long has she been sitting on those eggs... were they put under her?

Putting babies in the house. Mama is starting to molt and has lost most of her feathers. Will take care of the babies. Have 7 now. With 3 or 4 more pipping.

Day 8 and six wiggly babies out of 8. I ordered them from a lady on here. And so far its a great hatch rate!

Ok, you all convinced me... Time to candle. Still pretty dark out here so I'm going to candle right in the kitchen where the eggs are incubating.

I always keep the clears until next candling. I look for dark clouds and blood rings the first time. Those are the stinkers that could ruin it all. Some of the early "clears" end up OK, some don't.
