Who's Setting Eggs This Week[end]? [August 8-14]

While we are all waiting I thought I would share a story with you all. Years ago I purchased 12 guinea keets from our local feed store. One turned out to be a chicken who I named Chikeeta. She would sit on my shoulder, come when called and followed me everywhere. Not knowing much about chickens I thought that she needed a roo to lay eggs and never paid attention to how old she was, etc. I started noticing that every morning she would disappear into a pile of junk in the garage, thought she was after bugs. When I finally got around to giving the garage a total overhaul, low and behold I found our old cat carrier and inside were 72 eggs!! It seemed Chikeeta was a very busy lady. I felt bad about throwing them all out but had to do it. From then on Chikeeta's nesting box was checked everyday and on most days there would be a present for me.

cool story

72 eggs is about 72 days worth hehe give or take a few

Ok, I think I might need to move over to the incubators anonymous page... I just started 7 more eggs. I just could not help it, I have an old blue Cochin that just started laying, and I don't know how many eggs she has left in her. So I feel like its now or never on her eggs.

Well i checked on my eggs last night during my cooling period and they are all still dancing so it's all good as of day 10 whoo hoo i am so excited i can't wait to see my little fluffy puffies LMAO!

I have a pip on one of the blue eggs this morning but no movement or peeping. The pip is not near the fat end of the egg, but south of the equator. Don't know how long it's been still, since it was pipped when I woke up. I'd be so excited if it moved. Should I be worried? It's day 19 for me, but this one was gathered on July 24th.

Correction- this egg was gathered on August 2nd!

Ugh. My replacement incubator got here this afternoon....and the box looks like someone ran it over and than wrapped it in masking tape. I've already filed a claim with UPS, and the incubator seems to be working fine, but it's a delicate piece of equipment and I'm not sure if it's going to work right, or if it's going to crap out on me after some time because the electronic part of it was damaged.

I'm so frustrated, it seems like I can't get anything delivered in one piece recently.

OMGosh!!....Im sooo Sorry!!

Day 11 and disaster has struck! My incubator bulb packed up so therefore no heat has been produced. I don't know how long it was out, could be 6 hours, could be 15 mins. I've got the temp stable again now but I'm thinking I will probably have lost the lot.
I'm leaving them in and will continue as normal until the end just to make sure but I'm not hopeful. I'm devastated!

Ur doin the rite thing by leavin them in....each egg will produce "body heat" too!
GOOD LUCK!!

WelshChick, I agree with everyone else. Losing heat is not so bad as overheating. Pretend it didn't happen. Meanwhile, you're making it hard for me to express my joy that I'm on lockdown!

Constant vigilance or they do crazy things? Too funny, like what?
My 2 yr old once took the keys to a Yukon (I could hardly hoist myself into it sat so high) locked himself in, started car, and LAUGHED at all attempts to get him to let us in! Same 2 yr old used to take gallons of milk, drag into living room and DUMP out on rug, feed every last hot dog in fridge to eager German Shepard.
At 20 mos old, used broom stick to get medicine off of back of counter, UNSCREWED child locked lid, and spent rest of day getting charcoal pumped into stomach at hospital. Ate Desitin too many times to remember, couldn't keep it in babybag.
At five, cut all hair off puppy, ummm many more stories, these are off the top of my head.
This is the ONE child out of four, he made me afraid to sleep.
Sounds like a Wonderful lil boy!
My sons did the same things...plus more!!

Oldest boy kept bringin home baby rattle snakes!....He's in the Army now as a Demolation Field Engineer!!
the other drove my GMC Suburban into the woods with his kite in the back seat....&
now in the Navy becomin a Nuclear Engineer!

The stories I tell their Girl-friends...with pix!!

Ok guys I have A.D.D and I tend to go off topic ALOT. and so tonight I was sitting bored and wanted to share with you all the best cat ever in this world. If I were single with no children this is the only male I would want to spend the rest of my life growing old with. this is prattle he has 23 toes and one eye seven toes on one and six on the other and five on each back. ( most cats only have four toes on the back feet its a genetic mutation) we rescued him from our local shelter and let me tell ya he is just always there for me follows me sleeps with me and is by my side every minute of the day, and he helps keep me occupied while my eggs incubate .

A very Lucky Cat....u have a beautiful Angel...luv his coat!!
