Happy Saint Patricks Day!!!

Who thinks that by setting the eggs today, there will be some amount of luck??? I wonder if I draw 4 leaf clovers on my eggs when i set them, if they'll be lucky... hmmmm.

What are you setting today? I'm setting 5 Emu eggs!!!!!

I was planning on setting eggs today - but they arrived earlier than I expected (Monday), so I set them yesterday. I figured I was better off getting them in the incubator than holding out for St. Patty's Day luck while the eggs aged.

So, I have 11 Bantam Cochin eggs in the 'bator for a April 6th hatch date. How long is the incubation period for an Emu egg?

Emus take anywhere from 46-56 days (from what ive read). It's going to be a long journey!!!!!

I couldn't survive that long - I'm having a hard enough time keeping sane for the 4 weeks my duck eggs take (I have a batch on day 14 in the 'bator now - halfway there!). Good luck!

Let's see....in the tray to go in today....there are 2 dz Marans eggs, 1 dz SLW shipped from Red Roof here on BYC, 1 dz Mille Fleur Cochins, 1/2 dz Frizzles and 1/2 dz Welsummers.
Can't say I thought about any luck but I'll take any help I can get! Come on, Lucky Charms! (Hope they won't be magically delicious.)

And now to start collecting for a setting to go in the Genesis on Sunday.

yay!!! im so happy to so have so many people hatching with me!!!

Anna- you better stick around to make sure i dont go nuts!

This is our first hatch, first chickens period! I have 5 perfect looking silky eggs! The mailman dropped them off about noon so they'll go in soon! We are so excited! I'll be happy if I can get one to hatch. My air temp has been a perfect constant 99.5 for the past two days. I turned it up a tiny smidge and put a wiggler in. I want to see what that is before I put the eggs in. My humidy is a little low so I'll put a sponge piece in when I pop the eggs in. So glad I have you all to hold my hand!!!!
