Who's setting with me Sept 1st-4th?

Today is what I'm counting as day one for my eggs. I set them late last night and it took a bit for the incubator to get back up to the right heat. Like 5 am this morning it hit the right temp.
I set eggs that are from a co-op. :) Mix of white to dark brown eggs. I can't wait to see how many will develop, and what will hatch.

Count me in!! I've had two incubators running for a week now with some EE's and a variety of layers. Gonna put 17 shipped Silkie eggs in this afternoon, hoping they do well.

Good luck everyone.

Woohoo! Good luck! I'm really loving my shipped eggs! I hope they hatch too!

I've also set my first batch in my first incubator...they will also be barnyard mutts (BO and Red star mix). Hopefully they will be egg-laying machines! Only problem I seem to be having is high humidity in my incubator. When I went to bed last night it was sitting right around 60%, this morning over 80%. Will that effect my hatch rate? I'm using the Farm Innovators model 4200 with circulating fan and auto turner. Any ideas?

That is way to high. How do those hold water for humidity? If it's a tray in the bottom can you fit a small dish? I've messed up by keeping humidity at 60 during incubation and the chicks drown in the egg. :(

There are two access holes in the top of the 'bator to add water, which goes down into the bottom. I only added about 1/4 cup. The directions with the setup said to keep the humidity around 57-60%, then increase to 65% when ready to hatch. I'm clueless on how to "regulate" the humidity. It seems if I remove one of the covers off the access hole, it might have an effect on the temperature regulation. I have read a few people mention "dry hatching"...how does that work? My normal room humidity is around 30-45%.

I have the same incubator and I LOVE it! I bought a little giant tray from eggcartons.com and added shipper in the code box for free shipping. I had to cut the tray to size, but it works very nicely to keep the incubator clean.

I incubated at 99.5 temp(marked the spot with a pencil) and 45-50% humidity day 1-18 and 60-70% 18-21. Make sure you use the thermometer on top of your eggs that is sent as an extra. The top lid thermometer reading is inaccurate, but the humidity level is pretty accurate.

I got a very high hatch rate even with a staggered hatch 5 days apart.

Take the vent plugs out to adjust the humidity or sponge a little water out to adjust the humidity.

Humidity is staying at 43% and a nice temp of 100 degrees :) (took this really quickly just a few minutes ago when I went to turn the eggs) So far so good. I really was afraid my first time incubating would go horribly... Thank God it hasn't but I'm always going over and shining the flash light through the window to make sure the temp is ok. I have the incubator on a shelf and a towel from wall to wall (closet with no door) to keep the cats off as I was afraid they would lay on it and break it... You should see me going on a little step ladder to turn the eggs/check the temp. haha
